Ferreira Gullar affirmed on several occasions, critical and biographical texts and interviews that his poetry is born from the daily and the astonishment, that is the feeling of strangeness before objects and situations already known. This article discusses if these theoretical assertions are true in Gullar’s poetic work, that is, if the daily and the astonishment can be identified as the poem’s source. To that end, this study selected poems published in Muitas vozes (1999) and, to support the lecture, it will be considered some theoretical texts written by Gullar and writings from Octavio Paz, Maurice Blanchot and Jacques Aumont.
