The objective of this work is to read two classic episodes that feature the sense of hearing and singing, and then compare them with contemporary Brazillian poems. We’ll start with an excerpt from the Argonautics involving the mermaids and the Odyssey episode that inspired it. Supported by Agamben, we will observe in these two episodes the dynamics of realization or not of the voice. Then, we will approach the episodes according to Jean-Luc Nancy’s idea of listening. And finally, we will bring poems by Ricardo Domeneck, Carlito Azevedo and Claudia Roquette-pinto, identifying how their texts relate to the two episodes and the mobilized concepts.
