This article aims to explore important features of the poetics of the Romanian- German writer, Herta Müller. Beginning with her autobiographical writings on the basis of which she elaborates her own process of poetic composition, our aim is to extend the analysis to include her verses. By approaching her poetry and the visual appeal intrinsic to collages, we seek to identify key elements of the author’s creative process that account for the idiosyncrasy of her poetics. Bearing in mind the ethical consideration in our analysis of aspects of Muller’s oeuvre, we have tried to explore the importance of the poet in the contemporary cultural scene with respect to novel forms of poetic manifestation which have emerged.
