In this article, I propose a reading of Education by Stone by João Cabral de Melo Neto, published in 1966, developing the hypothesis that the work implicitly formulates an ethic-aesthetic pact. Initially, I seek to restore the transitivity of the term education, based on the thought of Araújo (2002) to then analyze the interlacing between ethical and aesthetical issues brought forth in some poems. Later, I bring in to the reflection Cabral’s thoughts on the work of Joan Miró, in which the same assumptions of the ethic-aesthetic pact of the work analyzed would be reflected.
