Abstract

The article proposes an analysis of Dirceu Villa’s poetry, a writer from São Paulo who has been working since the late 1990s, discussing it book by book, with special attention to some themes and questions, understood as the most important parts of his work, namely: the sovereignty of the poetic and the pride of poetry; creative and critical dialogue, with a revivifying regard and never in regressive perspective, with multiple traditions, especially Classical Antiquity and medieval European poetry; the political inscription of the poem, understood as a response to the present and to the social and cultural events of current days; the relations between the practice of translation and poetic writing.
