Giuseppe Ungaretti, Italian Poetry, relations Brazil-ItalyAbstract
The relations between Italian and Brazilian cultures, throughout the 20th century, left many traces. A central figure is that of the Italian poet Giuseppe Ungaretti (1888-1970), who, from 1937 to 1942, was professor of the chair of Italian Language and Literature at the newly founded University of São Paulo. This text proposes to reflect on this experience of otherness, which starts to bring essential elements to the Ungarettian laboratory, with its great capacity for renewal and vitality.
