João Cabral de Melo Neto is often situated in the so-called Generation of 45. What is questioned is whether this insertion is the result of an aesthetic criterion to which the poet would join or whether it is only a chronological parameter that does not translate any affinity between his poet and the poetic ideals of such a generation. The section of the cabralino corpus will be limited to the first three works of the author that will serve as a basis for the discussion of the pertinence of the relationship between cabraline poetics and the Generation of 45.
