This article aims at analysing the presence and the function of the sonnet form inside the Brazilian pop song A Força Que Nunca Seca, by Vanessa da Mata and Chico César. By the way of a “close reading” of its sonic, metrical, and rhythmical structure, the analysis enlights the convergence of the songs’s poetic form and social criticism, in order to demonstrate how form and meaning are necessarily entangled within the poem.
