The present study aims to address the relationship between literature and society in João Cabral de Melo Neto by the memory bias, namely, the role of memory as a filter, as a factor of discussion matter of elements presents in Pernambuco’s society as represented in João Cabral’s poems. More specifically this piece of work analyzes space and collective memory from references to ruined buildings.
