Abstract

This study examines Armando Freitas Filho's book De cor (1988) and "Duas visitas", a poem included in Sebastião Uchoa Leite's book Cortes/toques (1988), through the lens of their references to the memory of Ana Cristina Cesar. The poet's suicide in 1983 had a considerable emotional impact and established a mournful line of poems that questioned the mystery of her sudden death. Armando creates ample space for remembrance, for what remained in the heart, but also for forgetting. ln "Duas visitas", silence and mystery of death permeate the poem, lending it its lacunar quality.
