This paper investigates whether the letters of Caio Fernando Abreu, compiled by Italo Moriconi (2002), can be considered poetic narratives. It argues affirmatively, given their literary texture, poetic narrator, and use of imagery, aspects that transcend their immediate communicational function. Methodologically, the analysis employs a hermeneutic-narratological approach, grounded in Jean-Yves Tadié’s theory of the récit poétique (1994), Janet Altman’s studies on epistolarity (1982), and discussions on lyrical addressing by Silviano Santiago (1986) and Joëlle de Sermet (2013). Thus, this research underscores the genological and aesthetic complexity of Abreu’s epistolary writing.
