Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The paper is original and unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

  • The paper is authored by at least one PhD in the area of research.

  • The text follows the style and bibliographical requests described at Authors’ guidelines, to be found at the page “About the Journal”.
  • The identification of authorship was removed from the Document Properties options of the file, thus ensuring the criteria of confidentiality.

Author Guidelines

Texto Poético accepts articles on its theme, including the comparative perspective, with no restictions as to approach or theoretical or methodological current. 

Texto Poético not requires Article Processing Charges and submission charges to its authors.

Papers may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, English, French or Italian. They must meet the following specific standards:

1. The articles be original, and must be exclusively written for this journal (except for those articles published in journals and in Annals of Congresses). The articles’ republication will only be authorized for foreign journals and books.

2. Articles should be written in MS Word, Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified, 3.0 cm margins (left, right, top and bottom), paragraphs and subparagraphs with a decrease of 1.0 cm in RTF formats, or DOC.

3. The maximum length for articles is 20 pages (8.000 words), including references and appendices.

4. The reviews should not exceed five pages and should deal with books published in the last 30 months. 

5. The submission of the original articles must be made through the complete online registration on  http://revistatextopoetico.com.br/index.php/rtp/index.

6. The original articles must also contain the subsequent information, following the indicated order:

a)    Portuguese title along with its English translation and its Spanish translation; or in the foreign language in which the article was written together with its Portuguese translation and English translation or Spanish translation.

b)     Abstracts - the text should include a abstract (50 words at the least and 100 words at the most) in the language in which it was written, and a abstract in English and also a abstract  in Spanish. The first abstract, in the language of the article, must be placed after the title of the article and the other abstracts must be placed between the end of the article and the references.

c)    Key words - in the language used in the article and in English and in Spanish (five at most anda separated by a semicolon).

7. References should be placed in alphabetical order and be found at the end of the text. Following are some examples:

a)    A book with one author: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Author’s name. Title of the book in italics. Publisher’s city: publisher, year.

b)    A book with two authors: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Author’s name and LAST NAME. Title of the book in italics. Publisher’s city: publisher, year.

c)     A book with 3 or more authors: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Author’s name et al. Title of the book in italics. Publisher’s city: publisher, year.

d)    Book Chapter: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Name. Title of the chapter; subtitle, if any. Edition number. City: publisher, year of publication. Page number of range use. –if it is the same author for the book and the chapter: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Name. Title of the Chapter. In: ______. Title: Subtitle, if any. Edition number. City: publisher’s name, year of publication. Page number or range use.

e)    Journal articles: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Name. Title of the article (without highlighting), Title of the journal (in italics), volume and journal’s number, page numbers, publishing date.

f)     Annals: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Name. Title of the article: subtitle, if any. In: NAME OF THE EVENT, event’s edition number, year of the event, city of the event. Publishing type (Annals or Summaries or Proceedings), City of publication: Publishing institution, year of publication. P. (article’s first page – article’s last page).

g)    Internet: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, Name. Title: subtitle, if any. Available at: . Accessed: day, month (abbreviated until the third letter, except may), year.

h)    Thesis: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, Name. Title: subtitle, if any. Year of defense. Total number of pages. Thesis (PhD in 'area of study') – School Name, University Name, city of the Institution, year.

8. Bibliographical information in the body of the text must be summarized as the author’s last name, publishing date and page (i.e. NUNES, 2008, p.32). If the author’s name is cited in the text, only the date and page should be placed in parenthesis.

9. Citations with more than 3 lines must have a 4.0 cm left indent, 11-size font, and single space. There should be a space before and after the citation. Citations with less than 3 lines should be incorporated to the text through the use of quotation marks, “….”.

10. Use italics to highlight expressions, foreign terms and titles of books and journals.

11. Notes should be reduced to a minimum and should be placed at the footer of the page. References to footnotes should be made numbers.

12. All papers submitted for publication will be sent to the Editorial Board, which has full authority to decide whether the article should be published or not, and may also suggest changes.

13. The concepts expressed in the papers are solely the authors’ responsibility.

14. Authors must check their submission’s compliance with respect to all items listed above. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be reported to the authors, as well as those articles that are not approved for publication by the partners.

15. To ensure the integrity of the articles’ evaluation, extreme caution should be taken in order to protect the authors’ identities during the process. This requires authors to be cautious with the text and document properties: 1) The author of the document should exclude any names from the text, replacing them with “Author,” and the year in references and footnotes instead of author names, title of the article, etc. 2) In Microsoft Office documents, author identification should be removed from the document properties (File>Properties), starting on File in the main many, and clicking the following: File>Save As…> Remove personal information from the file when saving>OK>Save. 3) In PDFs, authors’ names should also be removed from Document Properties, under File in Adobe Acrobat’s main menu.
